PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants have kicked off at Lincoln Financial Field as the crowd is rocking for the fifth all-time meeting between the Eagles and Giants in the postseason. New York enters this matchup as underdogs, yet have defied the odds all season en route to the divisional round.
Daniel Jones is coming off arguably the best performance of his career, completing 24 of 35 passes for 301 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions (115.7 rating) as New York puts up a road season-high 31 points in its wild card win over the Vikings. Jones set the franchise playoff record for most rushing yards by a quarterback (78) and became just the third quarterback in NFL history to throw for 300-plus yards and rush for 75-plus yards in a playoff game. Jones was also the first player in league history with 300-plus passing yards, 70-plus rushing yards and two-plus passing touchdowns in a playoff game.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is coming off two weeks of rest on that sprained shoulder, but was not on the injury report all week. He’s expected to be good to go, as the healthy Eagles just have one starter out (slot cornerback Avonte Maddox). The Eagles won both matchups, 48-22 in Week 14 and 22-16 in Week 18, although New York rested its starters in Week 18 because it was already locked into the No. 6 seed in the NFC. In the 48-22 victory, the Eagles rushed for 253 yards and scored the most points ever against the Giants on the road.
