Although homecoming is often associated with fall, football, and crowning school royalty, it is mainly a time for alumni to return and join the rest of the school in celebrating tradition and school spirit.
The homecoming football game will be preceded by the Homecoming Harvest Festival, which will provide a little something for everybody.
This Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. there will be food, entertainment, a car and truck show, and various vendors at the football practice field.
Chabot's radio station, KCRH will also be partaking in the festivities and playing music throughout the day.
Over 100 different vendors will be at the festival selling hand-made jewelry, crafts, clothing, fine art, and pottery.
There will also be community information booths such as voter registration and local hospitals conducting health screenings and providing medical information.
The celebration will not only consist of vendors, there will also be live appearances. There will be a line-dance presentation and a line-dancing lesson by Chabot's line-dance class, as well as a self-defense demonstration by a local martial arts school.
There will be appearances by Star 101 radio personality Sylvia Chacon and Mrs. California Tracie Stafford, both of whom are Chabot College alumnae.
"Not only are they Chabot College graduates" says Karen Silva, Homecoming Harvest Festival co-chair, "they also have gone on to become celebrities... it makes [their appearance] extra special."
Students from the Dental Hygiene Program will be providing dental health screenings for children.
There will be a children's fair with activities such as an egg toss, craft tables, a bounce house, sack races, and a pumpkin decorating contest.
No need to bring your own pumpkin, there will also be a pumpkin patch.
The food court will include snacks like kettle corn and Maui Wowi Hawaiian Coffees & Smoothies. There will also be more substantial eats like tamales and hot dogs.
