Though the Chabot men's soccer team played their game on a cold, chilly Friday afternoon, much success would come to pass.

The Gladiators were able to shut out a tough Evergreen College squad. Winning this match up with a score of 3-0, and never looking back.

"We played pretty well, playing with high-pressure, keeping them on their toes, and forcing them to make bad passes," said Brandon Sheirich of the Gladiator victory.

The first score came at 31:32 in the first half by Daniel Valencia with an assist from Jesus Moreno.

As the game moved forward, the Gladiators would add another point to the scoreboard from a penalty shot by Shane Kilby at 22:30 left in the first half. This gave the Gladiator squad a 2-0 lead.

The rest of the game fell under Gladiator control, never seeing any imminent threats through strong defensive play. Evergreen failed to put up a real fight. The final goal of this one-sided match would result from another goal by Valencia with 12:45 remaining in the game, ending the game with a 3-0 victory.

"Everyone played well, except we lost rhythm in the first half.

This was a good conference win, and we want to be top competition in the conference," said head coach Tony Igwe. The Gladiators will be looking for many more victories as the season progresses. "It's a great win, we want to stay undefeated at home, and we take pride in it," said Sheirich of their home victory.

This past Tuesday, the Gladiators lost 3-2 to Foothill College who is currently ranked number one.
