"We are much better than this," said volleyball head coach Amber Sammons afterward.
The first set was back and forth, with both teams showing competitive attitudes. This match would ascend regulation, and end up with a score of 30-32 with CCSF taking the set.
Next came the second set. To little avail, CCSF came away the winner of this set, winning 28-30.
Down in the hole now, the Lady Gladiators mustered up enough momentum to top CCSF in the third set.
They won with a decisive score of 30-14. "We played well, our hitting, serving and defense was better," said Brittney Alexander. The Lady Gladiators would look for the same success in the fourth set, with hopes of pulling the come-from-behind victory.
As the fourth set got under way, the Lady Gladiators would meet the similar fate of the first and second sets.
Fighting back and forth, laying out for balls, and showing some momentum, the Lady Gladiators would still not have luck on their side. This set would ended up in the hands of CCSF, concluding the game with a score of 26-30.
Overall the Lady Gladiators had some quality play from contributing players. Laura Zimbrick had 16 kills, and four blocks while Kassidy Rowley had eight kills, two aces and 12 digs.
This was the Lady Gladiators first conference game.
"The season is going well, next time we will beat them. We get better every game. Every day is a new day, and we come to work every day," said Alexander.
