Fortunately the victim's car was found in the northeastern section of Oakland in a residential area.
According to the Oakland Police Department the vehicle was significantly stripped of valuable components. Even though the vehicle was significantly stripped, it was not burned, which most car thieves do to destroy any evidence of the robbery.
Residents of the Oakland neighborhood did not witness the individual who left the vehicle; thus were unable to provide the police with any further information.
In order to keep this incident from happening to other Chabot students, Hayward Police officer Sgt. MacGreagor Wright said, "People need to be aware of surroundings, and be vigilant in reporting."
Wright added that anyone who believes that they witnessed a significant incident should not be afraid to report it. Wright also added that Chabot Security has no problem taking information on incident on an anonymous basis. He also advised to "take that chance that you might be right."
Anyone wanting to report an incident to campus safety can do so by calling (510) 723-6923, or in an emergency call 911 or 6666 on any campus phone.
