Latest R&B and pop teen sensation Paula DeAnda, 17, stopped by San Jose, Calif. on Friday, Sept. 21 to do a local performance for "La Fiesta" at the Mexican Heritage Plaza. This presentation from Dosty Entertainment, Osric Pratt, and Wild 94.9 was to celebrate Mexican Heritage Month.

DeAnda was the headliner, but artists Miss Issa, JR, and Gray also supported her.

The turnout of the audience was only around 20-30 people. The reasoning behind it could have been bad promotion, lack of popularity of the artists (besides DeAnda), and weather for this outdoor general admission show.

As Miss Issa performed her very last song at 8 p.m., DeAnda's DJ Chris mentions in their routine prayer, "Although there are not a lot of people out there, we will double the number in our heads and have a great show."

Indeed, DeAnda did not fail in her performance. She began the show with "Make 'Em Clap," from her self-titled album. Following the song was her latest single, "Easy."

Realizing the small number of people out there, DeAnda decided to get closer to the fans and make it into a bit of an intimate concert for them. As she performed "When It Was Me," DeAnda walked off stage and performed for her fans from a reachable distance.

To celebrate Mexican heritage month, DeAnda decided to sing the popular Spanish song, "Volver, Volver" by Vincente Fernandez.

Following the song was another track on her album, "Good Girls."

Afterwards, she sang her debut single, "Doing Too Much." Like always, she ended the song with a powerful note that impressed the crowd.

To end the show, DeAnda made a strong performance of her biggest hit to date, "Walk Away (Remember Me)."

Before she walked off the stage, DeAnda thanked everyone for coming and mentioned the new single by Sean Kingston and herself, "There's Nothin'."

Around 11 p.m., DeAnda attended two afterparties in clubs in downtown San Jose.

Currently, DeAnda is performing in a few shows around the country. She recently auditioned to be on a sitcom show on TV channel CW. DeAnda is also recording for her new album, tentatively scheduled to be released next year.

"I love the Bay. The Bay is awesome, California is awesome because [the fans] are so supportive of me," says DeAnda.
Unfortunately, DeAnda's schedule does not include another visit to the Bay Area any time soon.
