When many of you walked on campus to take your first class it was something new, different, a change from four horrible or wonderful years of high school. For those returning to Chabot, it's a new start.

Things around us like the weather, death, relationships, change beyond our control.

There might also be other aspects of ourselves we feel we need to change in order to better our selves Like quitting bad habits such as. So life itself revolves around change.

There are a lot of changes happening on and around campus.
It's the opinion of The Spectator that the changes that happen throughout campus, is a mixed bag of good and bad.

Perhaps you were one of the unlucky few, who to their horror, discovered that the class you had signed up and paid for, was cancelled. All that is certain, is that this was bad for the students and the college's reputation.

This hurts the college's reputation, because it failed to meet the need of the students. If a student doesn't feel like they're being helped, then they're likely to go to another college that helps them reach their goals.

Construction has been done and continues to be done to improve the college.

But every new thing always has a setback. For example Building 800, one of the many buildings being remodeled, is completely closed off for renovations. Perhaps this contributed to the number of cut classes.

There are many, who are wondering why this wasn't done during the summer.

The new football field is nice, and better than any of the original synthetic types.

But With summer still here, the field captures a lot of heat. One imagines it's not nice to play on.

Perhaps when the days get shorter, the winds pick up, and the rain pours, playing on the field will feel better.

But for all the things that have changed, that didn't work out well, there are other changes that make the future look bright.
With a new school year, comes a new ASCC president. There are many obstacles that the new president has to deal with, and many old ones.

It seems the ASCC fought a recent battle and came out victorious, ensuring they continue getting the funds earned through Chabot's monthly flea market. The Chabot College Foundation had moved to appropriate this money.

And now we have a new district chancellor. He appears eager to keep up with a good reputation, to know the students, staff, and the community that makes up the district.

Change is inevitable. For things that set us back and upset us, we have to look at the things that are possibly changing for the better.

That's the beauty of change; it brings forth new hope and dreams by allowing people to carry life one step futher.
