When many of you walked on campus to take your first class it was something new, different, a change from four horrible or wonderful years of high school. For those returning to Chabot, it's a new start. Things around us like the weather, death, relationships, change beyond our control.

What's holding the brothers back from success? What will it take for black men to finally achieve their goals in life and end the struggle?

Black brothers strive to do better
For years society has been instilled with the stereotypical notions that black men are lazy, violent, uneducated and disrespectful. But to judge someone you have to know them. It's easy to observe a black man standing on the corner during business hours and assume he's unemployed or selling drugs.
