With some renovations already completed at Chabot, more dust and debris is still to come. Phase 1 of the Chabot Master Plan construction project is under way, marked by the completion of much needed reconstruction and repair work to the school's pool and deck this past June at a cost of $1.

Chabot Las Positas College now has the youngest chancellor of any community college district in California. At the ripe age of 47 Joel L. Kinnamon became the district's chancellor in July after being named in May. Besides being the youngest chancellor in the state, he's also the fourth chancellor to serve in the districts 18-year history.

One hundred and thirty-two classes have been cut since the schedule was produced to students during the summer, due to a reduced college budget. Of the 61 general education courses that were cancelled, 12 of them were english classes. While 11 of cancelled general education courses were history classes.

Associated Student's prez has big goals
In spring 2007 the Associated Students of Chabot College, better known as the ASCC, elected their current president, sophomore, Wiaz Badar. Wiaz came to Chabot knowing essentially that he wanted to participate in Chabot's student government. After applying for the ASCC's senator positions in his freshman year, Wiaz became one of the first three applicants to be approved to the ASCC board.
