The WRAC Center is on the move
WRAC Center moves from the 800 building to the library until further notice

In light of recent events, I feel I should first of all say that my POV this week, in no way reflects the opinions or feelings of my fellow staff members here at the paper nor the tutors at the WRAC Center. With that said, it seems that the WRAC Center staff find themselves moving to the library after 15 years of service on the lower level of the 800 building.
With all the new renovations being done to Chabot many classrooms are being moved to different halls and the WRAC Center is just one of the school services that will also be moving. Though most of the displaced classrooms are set to move back as quickly as possible, the WRAC Center will be making the library its home until further notice.
The plan is to put the tutors on the mezzanine, which is the upper level of the library where there are currently computers.
While this is a very generous offer, the problem is that there will be no division setting us apart from the people who wish to study.
The whole point of tutoring is to help by talking over essays and assignments. At the WRAC Center we had a quiet room where students who needed to concentrate could go.
Well now I'm not trying to say we should get special treatment, but I do think that we may be somewhat of a bother to those who are simply in the library to study. On of the authority figures for the WRAC Center is fighting to get us a wall built, but the school is telling them that it's too expensive.
We are being told to simply use our bookshelves as dividers, which is ridiculous in my opinion. The bookshelf suggestion seemed like an insult. How much would it really cost to buy one of those cubicle dividers from an office supply store? How much money has been wasted on the simple planning of renovations for three years, and the best response they can give us is to use our bookshelves? get real.
