Chabot tennis remains undefeated

The Chabot College men's and women's tennis teams continue to crush the opposition.

The women have pushed their record to 13-0 after defeating Foothill, American River, and Cabrillo. The men have also improved their record to 12-0 after beating Mission, and Sierra.

On Tuesday April 3, the Lady Glads traveled to Foothill and won by a score of 9-0.

In singles competition, Tiffany Villanueva defeated Katie Alesch 6-love, 7-5. Shori Kakiuchi beat Maryan Eteaki 6-1, 6-1. Jackie Park defeated Regina Lee 6-1, 6-2.

On Thursday April 5, Chabot hosted American River who tried to hand the Lady Glads their first defeat of the year.

Instead, the Ladies proved to be a better team, winning by the final score of 6-3.

Villanueva beat Erica Behiring 6-2, 7-5, and Kummer defeated Erica Ames 6-1, 6-1. Emilie Murillo also won, defeating Meghan Keeyes 6-1, 6-2.

Chabot won all three doubles matches to seal the victory.

On Friday April 6, the Lady Glads hosted Cabrillo and showed no mercy by beating them down by the final score of 9-0.

Jackie Park defeated Shauna Schereman 6-4, 6-love. Tam Tran showed no sympathy to Jessica Haller, wining both sets 6-1, 6-love.

In doubles competition, Villanueva and Kummer lost their first set but bounced right back to win 5-7, 6-love, 6-love.

Kakiuchi and Park also had a bit of scare losing the first set, only to come back and win their match 1-6, 7-5, 6-1.

The men also took care of business on the tennis courts when they went to Mission College on Tuesday April 3 and won 8-1.

All of the Gladiators dominated in their respective matches. Vic Reynov defeated Victor Nguyen 6-1, 6-love and Jarrett Huk beat Niles Parungao 6-2, 7-6.

In the doubles competition, two of the three teams for the Gladiators won their matches.

On Wednesday April 4, the Gladiators hosted Sierra and also gave them a hurting, winning with a final score 7-2.

Nick Jakosjin contributed to the beating by defeating Tristin Debut 6-1, 6-1. Nima Mogharei defeated Phil Olamuiz 6-1, 6-2 and Bobby John had an easy match against Ricky Ganoza, beating him 6-4, 6-2.

The team of Yuki Asari and Huk and Jakosjin and Reynov won in their doubles matches with no trouble.
