Tuesday night, ASCC members were joined by two student senators from region 3 and 4 and another student who is a region 4 representative and ASP president of Hartnell College to try and convince the Chabot-Las Positas Board of Trustees as ASCC Marketing Director Rachael Berry said, "To hire a director of student Life by the beginning of the 2007-2008 academic year.

Berry also recommended that The Foundation acquire their own funds that are completely independent from historically established revenues that belong to the ASCC, and that all monies that are generated by the Associated Students remain solely managed and entrusted by the Office of Student Life and ASCC."

Vice President of Academic Services Ron Taylor expressed his thoughts about hiring a new Director of Student Life by saying, "I think we need a staff person to help the students, help the ASCC, be a link to the administration, and be a constant expert source of help."

But Taylor also said, "I think we do have higher needs than another director of student life. I think the other administrative positions are needed more urgently."

Rose Nemet, a student senator of Region 3 and student board member of Diablo Valley College, told the board of trustees that they want them to uphold the California Assembly Bill AB 1725 that gives the ASCC the rights to a shared governance which was taken away and violated by President Carlson.

Nemet also told the board of trustees, "I'm here to let you know that we stand with our fellow students. No, I'm not from this district and from this region, but we will rally behind our students and we will come here and tell you that we support one another and that we will not be silenced."

As Berry said in her closing remarks, "Actions speak louder than empty words! and it is clear that they have other agendas."
