April 17 marked a notable moment in campus activism.

On the way to the Job Fair three men took center stage to preach "the word of God," and delay students.

Students gathered around to listen to the men talk in front of the Disabled Student Resource Center located in the Cesar Chavez Court.

The three men took turns holding a long red sign that read on one side, "Trust Jesus. Forgiveness is wonderful," and on the other side, "Warning: Fornicators, Drunkards, Thieves, Adulterers, God Haters, Liars, HOMOSEXUALS. JUDGMENT."

Some students took offense to the sign. The students laughed, yelled, agreed, disagreed, argued, and listened to Kevin Farrar, Tom Griner, and Seth Lewis spread their beliefs.

For 60 straight minutes, the two visitors and one student took center stage and explained their reasoning. Farrar kept yelling, "God loves the homosexuals! He loves all of earth's creatures." One student walked up and yelled, "What about Buddha? What about Zen? What about Tao?"

Farrar dominated the scene with his voice. Students tried to argue with the three, but fell short. Farrar yelled, "We are here to spread the love of God, and all you people want to do is revolt. You students are listening to your feelings and emotions. God is above that!"

The scene stayed pretty much the same, with Farrar and his crew echoing throughout the students' ears. And then the Gay Straight Alliance came.

Two of the lead members, Denny Grebe and Minder Bal, came out holding the rainbow flag high and proud. They held the flag in front of the three men.

For 30 straight minutes Grebe and Bal held up the flag. Griner, who was holding the red warning sign at the time, said, "It's not hateful if we really believe it. It's not tolerant for them to tell us to be quiet.
