Chabot College students, instructors and members of the Hayward community gathered Thursday, March 29, in the hallway between Buildings 900 and 1000 to view the third annual student art exhibit.

A reception was held in honor of the 100 pieces of student work on display created by 80 students. The pieces will stay on display through May 11.

The student art gallery is in Room 1002 and features student work from sculpture, pottery, photography, drawing and painting classes.

During the reception speech, Diane Zuliani said, "It is so much fun to see this collection of weird and wild and wonderful varied work and incredible talent."

There are many people who contributed to the success of the art gallery. Zuliani said, "I am in debt to the following folks for their on-going help and support to the art gallery: ceramics instructor, Skip Esquiedro, photography instructor, Dan Leonardi, my husband Kevin Meller... and I especially would like to thank Chabot director of marketing and promotions, Susan May."

May is in charge of the advertising for this student show. Zuliani said, "Susan May is the real reason why you came tonight. She supports the gallery with every ounce of her energy and we wouldn't be the success that we are without her drive and I give her all my love."

Zuliani has taken a lot of time to work on the success of the gallery and said, "As always the student show is a labor of love."

The Chabot Art Gallery hours are Tuesdays and Thursday from noon to 1 p.m.
