All the action took place in the first three innings as West Valley built an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Chabot answered right back with two of their own in their half of the first inning before West Valley put up two more in the top of the second to break the 2-2 tie and take the lead.
West Valley silenced the Gladiators' bats in the bottom of the second to take the 4-2 lead into the top of the third.
Everything was downhill from there as the two teams would engage in a classic defensive struggle for the remainder of the game.
Up 4-2 in the top of the fourth, West Valley threatened with a lead-off single up the middle, and a sacrifice fly that put the Viking base runner on third.
After the next batter walked, pitcher Stephanie Anderson got out of trouble with a double play that started with a ball hit back to her.
West Valley extended their lead in the top of the fifth inning when the Vikings led it off with a double that found its way through the legs of Gladiator center fielder Phoebe Valderama.
With one out, a ground ball was hit to the short stop advancing the Viking runner to third.
The runner on third would score on Anderson's wild pitch before Chabot could get out of the inning.
Chabot followed with another one, two, three inning.
Although the Gladiators did a good job of holding off the Vikings, they couldn't manage enough firepower at the plate to get them back in the game.
The Lady Glads go on the road to face Hartnell today.
Chabot will return home for a three-game home stand against Mission College, San Jose Community College, and College of San Mateo.
