Gladiator baseball swinging away
Chabot continues its winning ways despite dropping home game.

Chabot hit the road to face West Valley Wednesday March 21, and the Gladiators destroyed them 20-3, as Chabot put together a four-run first, a nine- run fourth, and a five-run ninth.
Bryce Mendonca had three hits in five plate appearances and scored three times while bringing in three runs.
Mendonca is currently hitting .390 to complement his .480 on-base percentage and leads the team with 22 stolen bases on the year.
It took Rylan Sandoval only two hits to score three times and and earn himself five RBIs for the day. Sandoval continues to lead his team in batting average, (.437) on base percentage, (.500) hits, (45) RBIs, (34) and doubles (9).
Tyler Rogers got the start and the win, pitching seven solid innings, striking out nine, walking one, and allowing all three earned runs in the third inning, giving away just four hits.
John Anderson pitched the remaining two innings and struck out four to pick up the save.
Chabot kept their bags packed and went to Hartnell the next day and beat them 3-1.
Since there wasn't much offense to speak about Dan McDaniel got the start and the win pitching six innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits and struck out eight.
Robert Chimpkey also pitched one and two thirds, walking one and striking out one, and Eric Basurto picked up the save and leads the team in that category with 4.
The winning trend continued when the Gladiators returned home to defeat Mission College 11-2.
Jeff Bernacil was hot going four of four with a double and an R.B.I. Bernacil is hitting .309 on the season with a .489 slugging percentage.
Rob Learned had two hits in four at bats, both of them home runs, and drove in three runs in the win against Mission.
Learned leads the team in home runs with seven, and R.B.I. with 27, and has a .341 batting average.
On Tuesday March 27, the San Jose City College Jaguars snatched away an easy win from the Gladiators, leaving them at home to ponder the 14-10 loss.
