State Senator, Ellen Corbett, is joining together with students, faculties and consumer groups to fight against high textbook prices, the publishers, and their tactics.
Recently at California State University East Bay, Corbett announced new legislation, which will hopefully remedy the current textbook situation.

Unanticipated controversy has broken out in response to the design of an award depicting the Chabot College Gladiator.
Inspired by the staff of Chabot College's fund-raising foundation, the "Gladiator Award" statue was created to show appreciation for those who do something special for the college.

Daily, we pass by little things such as flowers, trees sprouting delicious fruits and chirping birds.
These things are often taken for granted or ignored. But for the past five years, a few instructors and students at Chabot have been increasing awareness of the flora and the fauna by hosting the annual Return of the Swallows Festival.
The award-winning Spectator staff attended the annual JACC 2007 State Conference in Sacramento March 22 - 24.
Over 50 community college newspapers from around the state made a presence at the event, where staff members had an opportunity to compete in on-the-spot journalism competitions such as sports writing, news writing, feature photo and copy editing.
American Dental Hygienists' Association Award
The American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) has named Chabot's JoAnn Galliano as a recipient of the 2007 Pfizer/ADHA Excellence in Dental Hygiene Award. Galliano will be honored during a special luncheon at ADHA's 84th annual session in New Orleans on June 24.
