Have you ever spotted a parking space in the Chabot parking lot, but when you move closer to park, you find that a car beside the space is all outside the lines, making it harder for you to park and to exit your car?
You may say to yourself, "Why couldn't they just park right?"
We all know that there are times when we are in a rush to get to class because we left work or the house late and because instructors get mad when you're late. And it's at these times that driving carefully to and around the school seems out of the question.
However, when you get into that one accident for driving crazy, you will want to kick yourself. Most of us have been driving for a while and have been since high school, yet at times we still forget our driving etiquette.
First off, we need to yield to those students walking by. Waiting a couple of seconds for someone to walk by is not so bad. If you are in such a rush to get to a certain spot, you should probably plan your time better so you won't be rushing.
Also try being patient while you drive around campus. The sky is not falling; so don't start honking at the driver in front of you for no apparent reason or honking at anyone for that matter. You must try to be courteous to those around you. As much as many of us want it to be, the world does not revolve around you. And nobody likes a mad driver.
Another thing we can all do is to yield to other cars. If you are at a stop sign, and an approaching car does not have one, don't be stupid and try to go because if you hit that car, then that is your fault.
Again be patient, let them go, and go when no one is coming. But if you go and cut them off, don't be mad when someone is yelling, honking, and speaking their mind to you. Some of these things are not so hard to do, and will prevent unnecessary confrontation and problems.
It's not that hard to park correct, be patient, and drive like you have some common sense.
