The Chabot College Athletic Department continues to excel this year, with men's and women's tennis leading the charge.

Both the men's and women's tennis teams are currently undefeated, and on a rampage as they tear up and destroy the Coast Conference.

Few teams have put up much of a fight against both of the Gladiator squads, and with the season winding down Chabot doesn't look to be letting up either.

Also upholding the Gladiator tradition of destruction, the Chabot College golf team continues to run away with the community college golf competition.

Currently on top of the Coast Conference with 60 total points, the Gladiators are 14 points ahead of Cabrillo College in the conference standings.

When asked whether Chabot could bring home a championship golf trophy, head coach Zach Pappachristos answered, "Well, we brought one home last year didn't we?"

Pappachristos continued, "Not to sound too cocky or anything but we've got a pretty good golf team this year."

The team is led by Jeff Murphy, who is consistently ahead of the pack, Murphy golfed a 69, to once again take his place ahead of the field at the Monterey Rancho Canada Golf Classic held Monday March 19, in Monterey.

Scott Steelman finished just one stroke behind with a 70, and the two finished in first and second places individually in the tournament.

Tony Guerrero shot a 75, and Eric Crociata finished with a 79 and both would finish in the top 10. Jeff McClain's 81, and David Saegar's 82 wrapped up the scoring for Chabot.

The Gladiators finished in first place at the tournament shooting a team score of 374. Both Cabrillo and Monterey Peninsula community colleges finished in second place with a final score of 382.

The Gladiator track and field team participated in the Bob Rush Invitational held in San Mateo.

Aaron Macklin won the 400 intermediate hurdles in a Northern California best time of 54.23, which is the fourth fastest time in the state.
