Members of the Striving Black Brothers at Chabot continue to stay strong.

The Striving Black Brothers Coalition has been progressing strong. The SBBC have been active for two semesters now with 22 students. The programs have been helping the brothers with college life and transition.

SBBC provides scholarships which are available for brothers to apply; they also help brothers with the application process when needed.

Brothers are encouraged to come in and go over SEP plans to keep them on track with courses. Class attendance check-ups are also done to keep up with the brothers' attendance, making sure they're going to class.

SBBC have done campus trips and has a big trip to the east coast coming up. The SBBC just came back from a three day Southern California college tour. In the tour the brothers visited UCLA and San Diego State University.

At UCLA they visited the Mc Nair Scholars Program that introduced to the brothers the benefits and opportunities of the program. When visiting San Diego State the brothers saw the Hundred Black Men of San Diego State.

UCLA was so pleased with the SBBC visit that they invited the brothers to come back for a six-day summer session of campus life. The SBBC is currently raising money for their East Coast campus excursion. Raffle tickets are currently selling on campus.

The upcoming East Coast campus excursion is visiting, New York City, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia. The excursion is an 11-day educational adventure that will include six universities.

The trip will also include field trips to historical monuments such as the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, the White House, and a tour of the U.S. capital.

The tour will include six universities in three states. The purpose of the campus tour is to reinforce the student's comprehension of the transfer process and to give them motivation in continuing making strides in their college career.
