When asked to describe what the season has been like, first-year Head Coach Chelsea Spencer responded " It's been a roller coaster, a lot of ups and downs this year and right now were on the upside of that swing, but there are times this year when we just forget our goals."
With a 4-14 record, the Lady Gladiators are not looking like a team in good playoff position.
However, when asked whether or not this season is fixable, coach Spencer firmly answered "Yes."
Unfortunately her team couldn't back her up and once again dropped another game, losing to City College of San Francisco Tuesday, by a final of 5-1.
While City College successfully put runners on bases, Chabot successfully put together one-two-three innings.
CCSF put its first two runs up in the third inning.
With Gladiator pitcher Frances Gasmena struggling to find the plate, she issued a lead-off walk, and an infield single to put the runners in the corners, Gasmena gave up a base hit to right field on a 1-2 count to put CCSF up 1-0.Gasmena continued to struggle throughout the inning.
Working her way into a bit more trouble after runners advanced to second and third on a passed ball, Gasmena was able to get a ground ball back up the middle, to get the force at first base.
Since the San Francisco City College base runner on third committed herself to the plate on the play, first baseman Kathryn Darensburg quickly got the ball to catcher Brittany Valenzuela.
Unfortunately Valenzuela couldn't hang on and dropped the play at the plate, allowing CCSF to score once again.
Chabot promptly responded with another hitless inning.
In the fourth, after the Gladiators managed to keep City College of San Francisco off the basepaths, Chabot got two on but nobody across home plate.
In the fifth CCSF received a lead off error from Chabot third baseman Sarah Kaplan and put Chabot in a tight situation again.
Things went from bad to worse after the lead runner stole second.
After a walk, and a sacrifice bunt, the doomed inning was turned around when Kaplan snatched a line drive base-hit to save the frame.
The Lady Glads will try to make things better today when they go on the road to take on Foothill College.
