Gladiator baseball has been hot as of late, winning the last nine games to improve its overall record to 13-7 overall with an undefeated Confrence record of 6-0.
Erik Stavert got the start and the victory against San Jose and tossed a strong five and two thirds innings, striking out six, giving up five earned runs.
Although Stavert pitched a good game, it was the relief he got from Tyler Rogers that got everybody talking.
Rogers entered in the game smoking hot.
With two outs in the sixth inning Rogers began to shutdown everything San Jose would send to the plate.
In three and one third innings Rogers struck out 10 batters in 10 official at-bat's and walked one.
The Gladiator offense was once again on their "A" game, collecting 14 runs on 11 hits.
Bryce Mendonca led things off, going two for five scoring two runs, with two RBIs and two stolen bases.
Rylan Sandoval continued to play impressive baseball, going two for two, scoring four times and gathering two RBIs and stealing a base of his own.
One might ask how Sandoval scored four times on two at bats, but the answer is simply because San Jose couldn't pitch.
Aside from getting pounded for 14 runs, San Jose also plunked five Chabot batters, including Sandoval and teammate Jeff Bernacil twice.
Kevin Santiago had three hits in five at-bats and with three R.B.I. and scored three times.
Santiago attempted to steal a base but all he would get was the attempt.
Although Bernacil was hit by pitches on two separate occasions he still managed to get a pitch he could handle and went one for one with two RBIs
Bernacil got his revenge for being hit after being successful in his attempt to steal a base.
Rob Learned pounded two hits in six at-bats knocked in one, and scored twice himself.
Even though Matt Rossignol spent most of his time squatting behind the plate, when he walked to the plate with a bat in his hand he collected two RBIs and scored once on one hit in four at-bats.
The Gladiators will play again today, hosting Skyline College at 2 p.m.
