The presence of less difficult classes in Chabot's curriculum has given rise to the tarnished moniker of "Hesperian High," used by many students to describe an institution whose courses lack sufficiently difficult or legitimate lesson content.
Remedial classes like Basic Mathematics (Math 105) and Learning Skills (English 116-118) do not suffer a lack of students, but the Spectator saw fit to inquire why the resources being devoted to these classes are not being used to fund more difficult classes.
Students who have not paid their debt to society do not get to play
By McLorin, Shanae
Not only do student athletes have to worry about maintaing a 2.0 grade point average, the new probation rule presented to coaches all over California will cause student athletes to worry and think about the consequences of their actions on and off campus.
ASCC Scholarships: Chabot students have until March 28 to apply for $30,000 in scholarships awarded by the ASCC in May. Among the awards are the President's Award for Leadership Achievement ($1,000), two Board of Trustee Scholarships ($ 500 each), a Cesar Chavez Scholarship ($500) and more than a dozen other scholarships.
