Seven football and basketball players from Louisiana have joined the Gladiators after escaping Hurricane Katrina.

The Chabot College Gladiator basketball team brought this season's record to 7-5, after finishing 2-1 and placing third in the Hartnell tournament held in Salinas Thursday, Friday, and Saturday Dec. 7-9.
After defeating Butte College in the first round of the tournament 87-79, Chabot faced off against a hard-nosed, defensive minded Merced team.
