The Chabot College basketball team brought home the second place trophy in the Monterey Peninsula College tournament held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday Nov. 30, and Dec. 1 and 2.

After placing third in the Consumes River Tournament, and following that up with a loss at West Valley, Chabot went into Monterey and defeated Gavilan 72-62 in the first round of the MPC tournament.

Moving into the next round, Chabot was matched up against Los Medanos once again. Having already defeated Los Medanos 66-64 in the first round of the C.R. tournament, the Gladiators pounded the Rams 91-68.

When asked about the difference in the performances of each tournament head coach Denny Aye answered, "Well you know in both tournaments we won two out of three games, but our goal was to win three. So one placing third, and one placing second is really not that big a deal.

I'm not real happy if we don't…. they give you trophy's for second place, but I'd rather get all the first place ones myself."

Going 1-6 from behind the arc, Eugene Webb still poured in a game high 20 points and pulled down seven rebounds.

Team captain Ramon Greene scored 17 and dished out eight assists with three steals, while co-captain Jason Curtis scored 12 points, shooting five of seven, going two of three from behind the three-point line, and swiping three steals of his own.

Sixth man Antonio DuPlessis scored 11 and pulled down 11 rebounds, while Mr. big shot Jenner Christensen continues his assault from behind the three-point line, scoring 11.
