Navidad en Mexico

The Chicano Latino Education Association (CLEA) of Chabot College is featuring the Ballet Folklorico Mexicano's 39th annual dance concert, Navidad en Mexico, showcasing intricate footwork and colorful costumes by more than 50 performers with live mariachi and singers.

The concert will take place in the Performing Arts Center tomorrow and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Food will be provided a few hours before performances outside where an old Mexican village will be set up.

Food Drive

Jove Meyer of our Associated Students has organized a food drive for Chabot College, taking place from now till Dec.13. There are five-gallon barrels with big red signs stating the needs in Bldg. 100, 200, 700, 1100, 2400, and 3500. Things that are needed are canned goods and other products such as powdered milk and cereals.

Blood Cell Registration Drive

The Health Center is hosting a Minority Marrow/Blood Cell Registration on Dec. 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. By registering to be a donor, you get the chance to save the life of Harrison Padua Leonardo, a 2-year-old boy from the San Francisco Bay Area.

Leonardo has leukemia and needs to find a matching marrow/blood cell donor soon. Because Leonardo is of Filipino and Caucasian decent, a suitable donor will most likely have a similar background. The bone marrow registration is provided by the Asian-American Donor Program (AADP) and is funded by the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP).

Due to the critical need of ethnic minority participation, AADP and NMDP both encourage everyone to participate, specifically the minority communities to be Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) blood-typed.

When attending the drive, be sure to have your Social Security and driver'slLicense numbers and the names and phone numbers of two close contacts that do not live with you and not living with each other. These contacts are needed to assist in locating you in the future if you happen to become a bone marrow match.
