NorCal Doubles' champion combo of Kummer and Marsden have been leaders for women's tennis
The women's tennis team concluded their season with a second place finish at the state tournament last week in Long Beach.
"Not bad, we came close and were right there but came up short," said coach Rick Morris when asked about the dual team loss to Grossmont College (5-3).
Yuki Asari, men's No.1, finishes his two-years of play as a Gladiator during the state meet. Asari defeated Waylon Bennett [Grossmont College] 6-3, and 7-6.
Subsequently, he lost the following match to Jose Hilla [Fresno City College] 3-6, 6-1, and 6-1. He finishes with a record of 34-8 in singles' competition.

Former Chabot swimming standout Neal Hamilton has returned to the Bay Area in style.
Last Friday at the Santa Clara International Grand Prix, Hamilton qualified for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 400 meter individual medley with a time of 4:30.03, just 46 hundredths of second under the qualifying standard.

Despite the intense heat and smog of the infamous Southern California climate, the Chabot track and field team posted several personal bests at Cerritos College in Norwalk (southeast of L.A.) to close out another strong season for the Gladiators.
Two of Chabot's seven athletes who competed during the two-day meet finished third, the highest finish for any Gladiator athlete in six years.

As the spring term draws to an end for Chabot College and its sports teams, the Spectator takes the time to reflect upon the last five months. No team became state champions, yet all of the teams went past the regular season and some made it to state competitions.
